Welcome to the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell at Mather Hospital Diagnostic Radiology Program.  Our mission is to provide an exciting opportunity to learn and develop the clinical and technical skills required of a well-rounded and competent radiologist serving a community that embodies everyday practice. Our program is a best of “both worlds” residency experience situated in a community hospital with active integration of radiology learning experiences afforded by the tertiary and specialty hospitals in the Northwell system.

Our program utilizes a combination of on-site training, structured curriculum, and self-directed learning to ensure that ACGME milestones are met. Residents have access to an incredible volume of diverse case material throughout Northwell’s integrated PACS system. Read out sessions are with our dedicated faculty, who are all subspecialty trained.  Residents have dedicated, protected conference times, including interactive case-based lectures, formal didactic lectures, as well as grand rounds with nationally recognized speakers. The department also has a noninterpretative curricula including wellness, professionalism, diversity and economics.  In addition, all R3 residents will attend American Institute for Radiologic Pathology (AIRP) for one month.

To date, all of our residents have chosen to participate in sub-specialty fellowship training after completion of our program. Our aim is to make sure our radiology residency experience broadly encompasses all facets of radiology practice and provides adequate exposure for our residents to expertly interpret imaging exams in areas that extend beyond their fellowship focus.

The Mather Radiology Residency Program is committed to the larger Northwell mission “to improve the health and quality of the life of the communities we serve through world-class service and patient-centric care”. With this mission in mind, our program aims to provide world class expertise in patient care in an environment focused on progressive resident education in a community setting.
