Graduate Medical Education

Mather and Northwell Health are committed to providing an educational environment based on the highest standards of excellence. Our GME program prepares physicians through Internal Medicine, Transitional Year, Diagnostic Radiology, Interventional Radiology, Psychiatry, Pharmacy Residency Programs and Gastroenterology and Hematology/Oncology fellowships.

Residents learn to function as members and leaders of healthcare teams focused on delivering high-value, evidence-based care while minimizing error and waste. Faculty and residents engage in lifelong learning, incorporating the latest scientific research into practice.

  • Frey Family Emergency Department — A 24/7 emergency facility providing advanced cardiac and stroke care, behavioral health crisis intervention, pediatric and geriatric emergency services, and rapid triage. Recognized with the only Level 1 Gold geriatric emergency designation in Suffolk County and the prestigious ENA Lantern Award.

  • Advanced Imaging — three CT scanners including 128-slice cardiac-capable CT and wide-bore 1.5T MRI
  • Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology Labs — minimally invasive cardiac diagnostics and treatment
  • Transitional Care Unit — nationally recognized 16-bed short-term inpatient unit, one of the first in New York State
