The American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) combined into a single unified program to achieve one national accreditation standard for bariatric surgery; the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP®).
MBSAQIP works to advance safe, high-quality care through rigorous standards of care, accreditation is attained and maintained though a strenuous review process to ensure standards of quality are continuously maintained. All outcomes data is entered into the National MBSAQIP database for evaluating best practices and quality improvement.
