It’s important to stay hydrated, especially during the hot summer months. Most drinks that are advertised are high in calories and high in sugar, and it’s best stay away from liquid calories. To enjoy a low calorie-high flavor thirst quenching drink, try adding fruits, spices or extracts to your water.  When infusing your water, remember that the longer it soaks, the stronger it tastes. You’ve got nothing to lose, when you infuse! Try this recipe from www.CookingLight.com:

Orange, Blueberry, and Basil Flavored Water

Ingredients:
• 3 orange slices
• 15 blueberries
• 3 basil leaves

Directions:

  1. Place the orange slices, basil leaves, and blueberries in a 32-ounce Mason jar, and fill with 22 oz. filtered water.
  2. Stir, cover, and let it sit in the refrigerator for 1 hour, or overnight for more flavor.
  3. Add ice, stick a straw in, and enjoy!
