Mather Hospital has teamed up with New York Cancer and Blood Specialists (NYCBS) to provide a three year ACGME accredited training program in Hematology and Oncology preparing our trainees for board certification in both specialties. Since most cancer care is delivered in the community, our fellows have the advantage of training in a top community teaching hospital and having access to resources of the Northwell Health System for specialized training in hematopoietic transplant medicine.
NYCBS is the premier community based practice in the Long Island area that provides comprehensive care for patients with cancer and blood disorders including a robust clinical trials program and advanced interventional radiology as well as laboratory services, psychosocial support, nutrition, survivorship and palliative care programs. We have a diverse patient population serving varied communities throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties on Long Island providing our trainees exposure to a wide range of pathologic disorders. While serving our community, we are able to provide cutting edge care without the patient’s need to travel to other centers. Our faculty are actively engaged in consulting on inpatients at Mather Hospital and engaging fellows in graduated responsibility in taking care of both inpatients and outpatients during their training. Faculty and fellows participate in the numerous tumor boards and didactic conferences during their training assuring a comprehensive educational experience.
We are confident that our graduates will become leaders in their communities in providing comprehensive, compassionate care to patients with cancer and blood diseases.
