The Mather Hospital Transitional Year Program is designed to provide a well-balanced program of graduate medical education in a variety of disciplines, in order to prepare residents for entry into a subsequent program that requires a prerequisite clinical year.

While the program has no specific requirement for a scholarly project, those who are interested in pursuing a research project will be assisted by Alexa Christophides, Senior Clinical Research Coordinator, with topic development, planning, IRB application and processing, data gathering, analysis and drafting. They will pair them with appropriate research mentors and facilitate those relationships.

The Transitional Year Residency Program at Mather Hospital offers a 13-block, 52-week curriculum designed to build a strong clinical foundation across multiple disciplines. The program offers three distinct tracks — a Standard Track, a Neurology Track, and an Anesthesia Track — each tailored to align with the resident’s advanced training pathway.
