Lack of a good night’s sleep can do more than leave you drowsy the next day. Studies have shown that a lack of sleep affects your heath in many ways, including cardiovascular health, weight, diabetes and memory.
If you are having problems getting a good night’s sleep, regularly experience daytime drowsiness or have been told by a loved one that you snore excessively then Mather’s Sleep Disorders Center may be able to help.
Our physicians are board certified in pulmonary medicine as well as sleep medicine, and the Center is staffed by New York State licensed respiratory therapists and registered sleep study technologists. There is also a pediatric sleep specialist and neurologist on the Center’s staff. As a hospital-based center, our staff has the immediate back-up of an acute care medical facility.
All patients who require a sleep study either at night or during the day for night workers enjoy a private room, complete with a comfortable queen-sized bed, flat screen television and private bath. Sleep studies are painless and non-invasive. Technologists attach monitoring equipment to the patient, who is then permitted to go about his/her nightly routine.
Mather’s Sleep Disorders Center is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine for meeting nationally recognized standards of excellence in healthcare, education and research.
A sleep consultation can be set up through a referral from your primary care physician or by calling the Sleep Center directly. Most insurance companies cover the cost of the consultation, testing and treatment for sleep disorders.
