Spring is a bountiful time for fresh produce! If you want the freshest, ripest produce choose fruits, veggies and herbs that are in season. Plus, in season usually means they cost less money! Check out your local grocery store or your local farmers market as they are starting to open back up for the season.
Spring fruits:
Apples, apricots, bananas, kiwi, lemons, limes, rhubarb and strawberries
Spring veggies:
Asparagus, avocadoes, broccoli, cabbage, celery, collard greens, lettuce, spinach, kale, mushrooms, peas, and leeks
Spring herbs:
Basil, chives, mint, oregano, dill, parsley, sage and thyme
With your spring produce you can make delicious, infused water with fresh lemons, limes, strawberries, mint and basil. Perhaps add some kiwi, banana and spinach to your protein smoothie. You can also make a wonderful salad with fresh lettuce, avocado, celery, cabbage, apples, dill and chives.
You can get creative for the spring holiday season like Easter or Passover with a unique risotto using asparagus, peas, mushrooms and leeks. There is no shortage of unique spring inspired recipes, and don’t be afraid to get creative on your own!
