Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders are surprisingly common affecting approximately one in five women nationwide. Postpartum depression, in particular, is the most common complication of childbirth and anxiety disorders are a close second. Left untreated, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders can have a lasting impact on both mother and baby, and have been linked to complications such as pre-eclampsia, poor prenatal care, increased risk of substance, low birth weight, preterm birth, and even cognitive and behavioral challenges in children. These disorders can present during pregnancy or even days to months after delivery and are unlikely to resolve without proper treatment.

Our commitment to perinatal mental health

We are proud to offer specialized perinatal psychiatric services at our outpatient practice. Our goal is to provide compassionate and comprehensive medication management for women who are:

  • Pregnant
  • Postpartum
  • Breastfeeding
  • Trying to conceive
  • Coping with pregnancy loss

Every woman deserves access to quality mental health care during this transformative time.  In addition to providing direct patient care, our graduate medical education program is dedicated to training future generations of psychiatrists in perinatal mental health, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to provide this essential service.
