Armed Security Officer

Weekends/Holidays: Some Holidays
Shift: Saturday 4:00PM-12:00AM. *Includes rotation to holidays

Duties:

Assist hospital staff in restraining emotionally disturbed patients in a safe manner.  Inspect fire related equipment at the Hospital.  Observe safety conditions of buildings & grounds.  Maintain order during emergencies, e.g., fire, accidents, disturbances.  Perform all other functions not listed but required by hospital policies.  Surveillance of loiterers, disorderly persons, or hazardous conditions.   Investigate & prepare reports on complaints of loss, theft, breakage, vandalism, accidents, etc.  according to standard operating procedures.

Qualifications:

Must be in good physical health. Security Officer duties will involve strenuous activity including walking, running and lifting (which may include supporting the weight of individuals who are not able or willing to support their own weight).  Must possess reasonable agility & dexterity that may be necessary to protect himself/herself & others during stressful situations.  Ability to handle combative patients/visitors safely.  Good communication  skills needed.  Paid law enforcement and/or fire service experience mandatory. Valid/current NY State Unarmed Security Guard license is required and Valid/ current NY Sate Armed Security Guard license preferred. Valid/current Pistol Permit preferred as well. Good customer service skills a must. BLS/CPR certification required within 90 days of hire. Must be willing to wear body armor / bullet proof vest while working at all times.
