The Fortunato Breast Health Center at Northwell’s Mather Hospital has again been granted accredited status for three years by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a quality program administered by the American College of Surgeons (ACS).
Northwell’s Mather Hospital received five stars from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for the third consecutive year, the highest rating possible using data that evaluates outcomes, patient experience and process. Mather was one of only four Long Island hospitals to earn the top rating.
Students from four local robotics teams got a surgeon’s view as they tested their skill at operating a next generation da Vinci® surgical robot in Mather Hospital’s Great Robotic Challenge. The event was part of the hospital’s marking its milestone 10,000th robotic surgery.
“I struggled with obesity most of my life. I became a high school athlete, and I did lose some weight and got in shape. But then once I went away to college, I gained the freshman 15 and struggled with my weight from my early 20s to my late 30s.”
