PORT JEFFERSON, NY – Richard Daly, NP has been named director of Advanced Clinical Providers (ACPs) at Mather Hospital where he oversees ACPs for the Hospitalist, Palliative Care and the Surgical PA Service along with the supervisory help of Barbara Sloma, PA, under the leadership of Dr. Mohamad Abouzeid.

 

Mr. Daly has been at Mather since 1999.  He earned his bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Adelphi University in 1993, and practiced in Critical Care, Hospice and Thoracic Oncology until coming to Mather in 1999 as an Emergency Room RN. He then earned his master’s degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner from SUNY Stony Brook in 2003, after which he joined the Allied Health Staff at Mather working with Setauket Primary Medical Care until 2007.  He continued in a private practice in Smithtown and returned to Mather in 2012 as a Nurse Practitioner with Sound Gastroenterology.

 

Mr. Daly joined the Mather Hospital Medicine staff full time in 2013. In 2017, he earned an advanced post-master’s degree from Pace University as an Adult Gerontological Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.  He was appointed Hospital Medicine ACP Supervisor in 2019 and was named Nurse Practitioner of the Year in 2020 by the Department of Nursing.

 

He is an active member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and served as co-chair of the APRN council at Mather for the past two years.  In his off hours, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Danielle, and their three daughters, as well as being active in local theater and finding time to play drums with local musicians.
