PORT JEFFERSON, NY – Maritza Groth, MD, medical director of Critical Care and Respiratory Care at Mather Hospital and associate professor of medicine at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, was named a 2021 Distinguished CHEST Educator for the fifth year in a row. Presented by the American College of Chest Physicians (CHEST), the designation provides national-level recognition of excellence in continuing medical education.

 

The CHEST designation has recognized Dr. Groth’s educator activities for 2018, 2019 and 2020. Dr. Groth is a clinical faculty member in Mather’s Department of Medicine and serves as a core faculty member of the Internal Medicine Residency Program. She is board certified internal medicine, critical care medicine, neuro-critical care, pulmonary medicine and sleep medicine. Dr. Groth has been involved in teaching critical care ultrasound for CHEST as well as for the Society of Critical Care Medicine for more than 10 years.

Designees will be honored during the opening session of the 2021 Virtual CHEST Annual Meeting in Orlando, FL October 17 and throughout the virtual annual meeting.
