Leo SternlichtLeo Sternlicht, a longtime member of the Mather Hospital Board of Directors, has been named chairman of the board. Sternlicht succeeds Kenneth Jacoppi, who had served as chairman since 2006 and will continue on the board as a member.

Sternlicht, who was born in Nassau County and grew up in Port Jefferson, is a graduate of Earl L. Vandermuelen High School in Port Jefferson. He received his BS degree in Business Administration/Finance from the University at Albany (SUNY) and his JD from the University of Virginia. He was admitted to the Ohio state bar in 1978 and practiced law there until 1983.

Since 1983, Mr. Sternlicht and his brother-in-law, Ted Lucki, have owned and operated car dealerships in Riverhead, currently Riverhead Ford Lincoln, Riverhead Buick GMC, and Riverhead Toyota.

He has served on Mather’s Board of Directors since 2004, most recently as treasurer.

A resident of Belle Terre, Mr. Sternlicht is the father of five children.
