Northwell’s Mather Hospital today announced the appointment of Bryan Sekunda as its Senior Major Gifts Officer. A highly respected healthcare fundraising professional, Sekunda brings a wide range of experience in driving philanthropic growth, cultivating strategic partnerships, and advancing mission-aligned initiatives that enhance patient care and community impact.
“We are thrilled to welcome Bryan to Mather Hospital,” said Matthew Colson, Vice President for Foundation and External Affairs at Mather Hospital. “His proven track record in securing transformational gifts, building strong donor relationships, and supporting innovative programs will be instrumental as we continue to expand our services and elevate the patient experience.”
Sekunda most recently served as Director of Development at Stony Brook Medicine for Stony Brook Children’s Hospital, where he secured major gift funding to complete the Pediatric Emergency Department expansion and grew endowment support dedicated to pediatric research. In this role, he also supported Child Life programs, helping enhance care and support for pediatric patients and their families.
In addition, Sekunda played a key role at the Long Island State Veterans Home, where he managed a dedicated fundraiser, achieved full funding for a courtyard renovation, and established the Home’s endowment. He also oversaw the Leadership Giving program at Stony Brook, managing six fundraisers who supported the broader campus.

The State College, PA native is a proud alumnus of Stony Brook University, Sekunda earned his degree in Business Management. He was a starter on the Men’s Basketball team during the program’s conference championship season and its historic NCAA Tournament appearance. He and his wife reside in Miller Place with their son.
