Angela Chewning, Senior Vice President, Human Resources at Dayton T. Brown, Inc., and John Rizzo, PhD, a professor of Economics and Preventive Medicine at Stony Brook University, have joined the Advisory Board at Northwell’s Mather Hospital, the hospital announced.

Ms. Chewning joined Dayton T. Brown, Inc. in 1981 as a Benefits Administrator and has been a driving force in the company’s Human Resources department ever since. Over the years, she has served as Human Resources Assistant, Employment Manager, and Human Resources Manager. In 1997, she was promoted to Vice President and Director of Human Resources, and she now serves as Corporate Senior Vice President ,Human Resources.
Ms. Chewning holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Dowling College, a New York State Advanced Certificate in Labor/Management Studies, and a master’s degree in industrial and labor relations from SUNY Stony Brook. She also serves as Chair of the Suffolk County Workforce Development Board.
Dr. Rizzo is a professor of Family, Population, and Preventive Medicine at Stony Brook University. A health economist, his research interests include applied microeconomic studies of physician and pharmaceutical markets, the application of econometric methods to clinical outcomes research, and pharmacoeconomic evaluations of medical treatments and technologies.
From 2013 until 2022, Dr. Rizzo served as Chief Economist at the Long Island Association, where he monitored the Long Island economy, preparing monthly economic reports and conducting additional research studies of various sectors of Long Island’s economy. Dr. Rizzo has published more than 250 articles in peer-reviewed academic journals. He consults for leading healthcare and government organizations and has testified as an economics expert in cases involving the pharmaceutical and hospital industries. He received his PhD and MA in economics from Brown University.
