Mather Hospital began a new chapter in its more than 90-year history with the opening of a redesigned  main lobby. The renovation was designed to create a space that impresses upon each visitor that this is an exceptional healing environment. In addition to exquisite interior design upgrades, there are security and access enhancements, expanded spacious visitor seating.

A ribbon cutting was held in advance of the Sept. 19 official opening of the lobby, which features a relocated reception desk that now includes a metal detection system to protect our patients, employees, and visitors. A new optical barrier system allows entrance to the hospital using a visitor pass or employee ID badge.

The lobby features expanded spacious visitor seating, including high-top workstations for laptop and tablet usage, a digital information screen, and upgraded bathroom facilities. Front windows now allow natural light to enter the waiting area. A TV monitor will display the services offered at Mather Hospital.

Planned to launch in the second half of 2024 is the Family Caregiver Center, which will provide supportive services and respite space for the informal caregivers (family, friends, and loved ones) who dedicate their time and effort to caring for our patients in the community. A licensed Master-of-Social-Work-prepared Program Manager will oversee a team of specially trained volunteer caregiver coaches who identify and engage family caregivers at the bedside and guide them through the caregiver journey. The space itself will house resources essential to supporting these caregivers during their loved ones’ hospitalization and beyond.

A separate conference room for up to 10 guests will accommodate support groups and private meetings during normal hours of operation.
