Our efforts to protect patients from harm and provide excellent patient care were recognized with accolades from two independent hospital ratings groups.
In May, Mather was recognized with a 13th top “A” rating from The Leapfrog Group for efforts in protecting patients from harm and meeting the highest safety standards in the U.S. No other hospital in New York State has earned more top ratings from Leapfrog, an independent, national not-for-profit organization. Mather is one of only three Long Island hospitals to earn the top grade for the spring 2019 rating period.
Mather also earned an Outstanding Patient Experience Award™ from Healthgrades, a distinction that places us among the top hospitals in the nation for overall patient experience. The award recognizes hospitals for their outstanding performance in delivering a positive experience for patients during their hospital stay. Mather was one of only two on Long Island to receive the award.
The Outstanding Patient Experience Award™ is based on nine measures related to doctor and nurse communication, hospital cleanliness and noise levels, and medication and post-discharge care instructions. Hospitals in the top 15% with the highest overall patient experience scores are recognized as Outstanding Patient Experience Award recipients.
Mather also received Healthgrades America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Pulmonary Care Award™, Bariatric Surgery Excellence Award™, and Gastrointestinal Care Excellence Award™ for 2019.
“Creating a positive patient experience requires the efforts of everyone at Mather, our nurses, physicians, staff who come into contact with our patients and all the other support staff who help operate the hospital efficiently and safely,” said Mather President Kenneth Roberts.
