Kerry O’Sullivan, RN, TNCC, ENPC has taken her commitment to caring for others beyond her work at  Mather Hospital.

An Emergency Department nurse at Mather for eight years, O’Sullivan has volunteered on several missions with Blanca’s House, which provides advanced medical care to children and families in regions where there is little or no access to such care. She has donated her time on medical missions to Ecuador, El Salvador and other nations with other healthcare professionals from Mather and other hospitals..

Last year, she provided lodging and care in her own home for a child from Ecuador and her mother while the child underwent surgery for a cleft palate.

Over the past year O’Sullivan has been recognized for her work with Mather Hospital’s 2012 RN Community Service Award and the 2012 Gail Cangro Award from the Suffolk County Emergency Nurses Association, given an Emergency Department RN from a Suffolk County hospital who exhibits the criteria of leadership, integrity, nurturer, dedication, creativity and magnanimity.

She was also recognized by the Town of Brookhaven with a 2013 Women of Recognition Award.
