Whether they walked in support of a family member with breast cancer, or in memory of someone whose life was cut short by the disease, participants in the Families Walk for Hope also raised funds for the Fortunato Breast Health Center.
This year’s walk took place under somewhat gloomy skies on Saturday, May 5 at Mather Hospital. Undaunted, participants cheerfully traveled the five-mile course through Port Jefferson and Belle Terre, many wearing t-shirts, hats or signs with the name of a loved one stricken by breast cancer.
Once they finished the trek, walkers enjoyed music by School of Rock and raffle fun on the hospital’s campus.
There is still time to make contributions through the Families Walk for Hope. For more information contact Public Affairs at Mather Hospital at 631-476-2723 or email ccourt@matherhospital.org.
