Northwell’s Mather Hospital received a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for the fourth consecutive year, the highest rating possible using data that evaluates outcomes, patient experience and process.
“Achieving a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is a huge success in itself. To sustain that level of excellence for four years straight is a testament to our dedicated staff and their tireless devotion to provide the highest standard of care to each patient who walks through our doors,” said Mather Hospital President Kevin McGeachy.
In addition to Mather, six other Northwell hospitals, including Glen Cove Hospital, Huntington Hospital, Lenox Hill Hospital, North Shore University Hospital, Northern Westchester Hospital and Sharon Hospital in Connecticut, each achieved five stars from CMS.
CMS, part of the Department of Health and Human Services, created a five-star rating to help consumers identify healthcare facilities by quality metrics, which include patient outcomes such as mortality, safety of care, readmissions, patient experience and timely and effective care.
