Welcome to the
Stony Brook Medicine
SUNY Stony Brook Program at Mather Hospital
Transitional Year Residency Program
John T. Mather Memorial Hospital is proud to announce the commencement of a new Transitional Year Residency Program. Sponsored by Stony Brook Medicine, our first class of Transitional Year Residents will embark on their training on July 1, 2015.
Founded in 1929 as the first general hospital in the Town of Brookhaven, Mather Hospital has consistently fulfilled its original patient care mission of providing a wide spectrum of healthcare services of the highest quality to the residents of Suffolk County, and has repeatedly ranked in U.S. News & World Report’s annual Best Hospitals list as among the best in both New York State and the New York metro area.
Located approximately 60 miles east of New York City, Port Jefferson is within driving distance of vineyards, beaches, restaurants, sporting venues, outlets and more. We are also within walking distance of the Long Island Railroad, for a convenient trip into Manhattan.
As we continue to mature from an award winning community hospital to a community teaching hospital, Mather Hospital is committed to providing you with a structured educational experience, as well as a fantastic life experience.
