Mather Hospital Offers Free Strength for Life Exercise Class for Cancer Patients and Survivors Starting July 9June 2, 2011
Strength for Life, a community exercise and educational program in which persons diagnosed with cancer participate in group classes designed to enhance their recovery process, will be offered free of charge at Mather Hospital beginning July 9.
The program educates cancer patients and the general public on the benefits of exercise in reducing the risk of certain cancers and improving functional activities. An expert panel convened by the
Strength for Life's certified cancer exercise specialists will design an individual exercise prescription based on each client’s needs. The program’s mission is to empower, inspire and strengthen by using exercise as a method of healing.
The first eight-week class begins Saturday, July 9, from 2 to 3 p.m. in conference rooms 3, 4 & 5. There is no charge for the class. Registration is required. For information and to register call 631-265-9645 or visit www.strengthforlifeny.org
