Respiratory Care Services of John T. Mather Memorial Hospital provides respiratory therapy services for the in and outpatient population. This includes newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and the geriatric patients requiring cardiac, respiratory care, services, treatment or testing to maintain optimum physiological maintenance of respiratory systems.

Services for inpatients and ambulatory/outpatients include the following:

• Hand-held nebulizer treatments
• IPPB treatments
• Aerosol treatments
• Postural drainage, percussion and cough
• Pulmonary Function Testing
• Arterial blood gases
• Pulse oximetry
• Training in breathing exercise
• Hyperbarics

The following services are provided for inpatients only:

• Continuous mechanical ventilation
• Medical gas therapy : Oxygen, Carbon dioxide, Helium
• Oxygen saturation monitoring

Staffing and Qualifications

Cardiopulmonary Services is open twenty-four hours a day. There are licensed therapists/technicians on the day shift available to assist physicians with procedures taking place during the daytime hours. Therapists/technicians are also available during the evening and night shifts for procedures, treatments, ventilator care and any other emergencies requiring his/her assistance. All therapists/technicianmust have a current RCP license and BCLS certificate.
