Dr. Arif Ahmad — Bariatric

 Dr. Arif Ahmad, the Director of the Bariatric Surgery Program
at Mather Hospital, is a pioneer in Laparoscopic Bariatric
surgery and was the first surgeon in Suffolk County to perform
the Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass procedure.
His medical training has been gained over numerous years
at internationally renowned medical institutions including
The Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh, The Royal College
of Surgeons in London, The Deaconess Hospital, Harvard Medical
School and the University of Virginia.
Dr. Ahmad completed an advanced minimally invasive surgery
fellowship and has taught the procedures to other surgeons. He
has developed and published a number of innovative techniques
to make the surgery safe and to prevent leaks, obstructions
and other complications. With specialized training
in minimally invasive procedures, he offers both the Laparoscopic
Gastric Bypass and Lap-Band for weight loss and other minimally
invasive procedures.
